GRUENDEL Rechtsanwälte advises bm|t beteiligungsmanagement thüringen on Constantia stake in siOPTICA

Die siOPTICA GmbH aus Jena Jena-based siOPTICA GmbH (www.sioptica.de) has signed an equity investment agreement with Constantia New Business GmbH, the venture capital arm of Constantia Industries AG (Vienna). siOPTICA aims to use the injection of new capital to expand its line of optical privacy filters and sell its solutions in other markets in the future. To date, siOPTICA’s products have primarily been used in automated teller machines and point-of-sale terminals.

The company specialises in the development of switchable privacy filters. The built-in filters make entering PINs at ATMs and other POS terminals more secure for customers.

Constantia New Business is now the largest shareholder of the company apart from bm|t beteiligungsmanagement thüringen (www.bm-t.de). The investment by the Austrian company marks a profitable sale of the siOPTICA shares formerly held by seed investor High-Tech-Gründerfonds II (HTGF II).

Headquartered in Erfurt, bm|t beteiligungsmanagement thüringen gmbH is a subsidiary of Thüringer Aufbaubank and the top partner for equity investments in Thüringen. bm|t currently manages six funds with a total volume invested of approximately €250 million. These funds invest in innovative companies in nearly all industries and all phases of corporate development from founding to growth to corporate succession.
