The Dutch-Belgian Fagron group has acquired Dresden-based HiperScan GmbH, a portfolio company of Technologiegründerfonds Sachsen (TGFS). Fagron is a global leader in the pharmaceutical manufacturing of personalized medicines to serve hospitals, pharmacies, clinics and patients in 35 countries around the world. Fagron employs over 3,000 people worldwide.
HiperScan GmbH was founded in 2006 as a spin-off of the Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic Microsystems (IPMS) Dresden. Based on the micro-mirror technology developed at the Fraunhofer Institute, it was possible to develop a high-performance and at the same time low-priced near-infrared (NIR) spectrometer for pharmacies and other industries.
TGFS has actively supported the company’s development since summer 2010. For TGFS, which has supported more than 80 founders and start-ups in the Free State of Saxony since 2008 in what is currently the second generation of funds, this is already the second exit in 2022.
In addition to TGFS and the founders, the other investors High-Tech Gründerfonds, Fraunhofer Venture and HCS Beteiligungen have also sold their shares.
